Spain crowned Nations League champions

Spain are the 2023 EUFA Nations League champions.

The La Roja lifted the title on Sunday night, after a 5-4 post match penalties'win against Croatia.

The final match in Rotterdam, Netherlands ended 0-0 in normal and extra time.

Spain scored all the five spot kicks, with goalkeeper Unai Simon saving Bruno Petkovic's penalty.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri was named man of the match.

The Nations League crown caps a fine season for him, having won the Champions League, English Premier League and FA cup titles with City few weeks back.

"This generation promises a lot. We were very strong mentally. There are things to improve, but winning is always good - we have to celebrate," he said, as quoted by BBC Sports.

Spain is the second nation to win the World Cup, European Championship and Nations League, following in the footsteps of France.

Les Blues beat the Spanish in the 2021 Nations League final.

Portugal won the inaugural UEFA Nations League title in 2019, after defeating Netherlands.

Croatia Captain Luca Modric was once again left heartbroken after failing to land a major title for his country, having reached the final of the 2018 World Cup and finished third at Qatar 2022.

Italy beat Netherlands on Sunday to finish third.

Spain beat Italy while Croatia defeated Netherlands in semis.
