Dani Olmo has passed his medical tests paving way for official confirmation as a new Barcelona player.

Barcelona conducted the tests on Wednesday afternoon hours after the midfielder arrived from Leipzig.

Olmo’s transfer from Leipzig to Barcelona will now be made official in the coming hours.

Barcelona will pay €55 million upfront and €7m in potential add-ons, taking the deal to €62m.

Olmo, 26, has agreed a six-year deal until 2030 in order to return to the club he left as a teenager.

He grew up in the Barcelona youth system from 2007 to 2014 before moving to Dinamo Zagreb as a 16-year-old and later to Leipzig.

At Leipzig he scored 29 goals in 148 games, while he has 11 goals in 39 games for the Spain national team.

Barcelona made Olmo their number one target for the summer transfer window after their move for Nico Williams fell through.

Williams had seemed likely to join Barcelona but according to multiple reports has decided to stay with Athletic Bilbao.

Instead, Barcelona turned to Williams’ Spain teammate Olmo, who also had interest from the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder was one of the most impressive performers at Euro 2024 in Germany where he finished as top scorer with 3 goals and 2 assists helping Spain to win the title for the record fourth time.

Olmo had already been open to a departure from Leipzig last summer, but the Red Bulls, at the time on the verge of losing several key players, managed to get him to extend his deal and stay for one more season.
