Strong winds cause wreck in Osia area- one person confirmed dead

Over 20 families in the Osia area in Teso North Sub County will spend their Tuesday night in the cold after a strong wind blew-off their roofs.

An elderly woman lost her life as a result of a heavy wall of her house collapsed killing her on spot.

Confirming the incident, Osia Chief Julius Ekirapa has urged the disaster committee and other humanitarian organizations to move with speed to save lives.

“The situation here is bad, we just urge the disaster committee and any and humanitarian organizations like the Kenya Red-Cross Society to intervene and save the situation before we lose more lives,” said area Chief Ekirapa.

Five people who had been hospitalized at a local hospital have been moved to Kocholia sub county referral with serious injuries.
