A 17-year-old form four female student at Got Matar Secondary School in Bondo Sub County is fighting for her life at Moi Teaching and Referral hospital in Eldoret after being severely cut all over the body last night by a fellow form three student alleged to be her boyfriend.
The girl was initially rushed to Bondo Sub County hospital for first aid before being referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu and later to Eldoret Teaching and Referral Hospital.
According to the girl's mother, Jane Atieno Adimba, her daughter's assailant came to their home at Aduwa village in Othach sub-location at around 3am in the wee hours of the morning and knocked at the window near the place her daughter sleeps before the victim opened and the duo left together.
Atieno disclosed that the suspect who is known to them seemed to have been in the company of others who were not identified.
The mother said that she was awoken by a neighbour at around 6am in the morning with information that their daughter was lying in a pool of blood a few meters from the house with cuts on the forehead, face, cheeks, hands and back.
Atieno said they are yet to ascertain the reason for the bizarre incident and could not confirm whether there was a love relationship between their daughter and the fellow student.
The girl’s father Johana Adimba says he learnt of the incident early in the morning at his place of work where he is a night guard.
An angry Agimba condemned the incident noting that the he toils and spends sleepless nights in order to cater for the welfare of his daughter including paying her school fees despite his advanced age.
He asked police to move with speed, trail and arrest the suspect who has since gone into hiding.
The chilling incident was confirmed by East Yimbo location chief Mr. Julias Odemba who disclosed that they are working round the clock with police to ensure that they arrest the suspect.
Odemba asked members of the public to be reporting such incidents to them immediately they occur to enable swift action.
He lamented that his office only came to know about the incident on social media and after the suspect had vanished.
