Preparations for celebrations to mark the Kenya’s 60th Mashujaa day at the sub county level are complete and it’s all systems go ahead of the day.

The chairperson of the planning committee who is also the Assistant County Commissioner Alex Wainaina confirmed that the preparations to mark the day are complete and all the residents should come out for the celebrations in large numbers.

“The celebrations which are usually on rotational basis will this year be held at Mangoto primary school in Kimorori and we are expecting over 2,000 people to grace the ceremony,’ he said adding that guests should be seated by 9am.

The ACC further assured the residents of adequate security as the security personnel had been briefed and are well equipped to offer adequate security before, during and even after the celebrations.

This year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations will have a special focus on the Universal Health Care (UHC) which is a crucial pillar aligned with the government's agenda and commitment to achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs) of ensuring that all persons receive the health services they need without suffering financial hardships.

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) aims at covering the full continuum of essential services from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care across the life course of an individual.

“During the celebrations we will also focus on enhancement of government services and social protection,” observed Wainaina.

Nationally, President William Ruto is set to lead Kenyans in marking Mashujaa day at the Kericho green stadium, Kericho county on Oct 20, 2023.
