Suspect arrested as Riffle, 18 Rounds of ammunition recovered

One riffle and 18 rounds of ammunition have been recovered in a stench operation conducted at a hideout in Maili Tano village, Ruiri Rwarera location, Buuri East Sub-County on Friday.

The Prime Suspect Fredrick John Mwenda was apprehended on site, John is suspected to be the mastermind behind a string of robberies in the area. 

The multi-agency team of detectives drawn from Buuri East in collaboration with officers from Kathare Police Station were Ignited by a tip-off from vigilant community members about the suspect, leading to the operation. 

The sterling assault rifle, serial number 001422 was seized alongside its buttstock missing and barrel shortened.Additionally, a magazine wrapped in a nylon bag cleverly concealed in a basin full of clothes was also recovered.

Mwenda was promptly taken into custody and is currently undergoing processing pending arraignment.
