Suspects flee leaving behind 8 sacks of Bhang in Homa Bay

Police in Homa Bay have launched a manhunt to peruse three suspect behind illegal bhang trafficking. 

The suspects are said to have fleed site and abandoned their proceeds of crime upon noticing that officers from Rodi Police station were on their Radar. 

Upon searching one of the houses at the scene, police discovered 8 hefty sacks of Cannabis Sativa worth millions of shillings. 

The police were tipped-off by vigilant locals about a suspicious vehicle parked in a homestead, officers sprang into action only for the three suspects to bolt off and jumped over the fence while another suspect drove off in a black car. 

Police also discovered a motor vehicle plate, KDN 374Z. 

The seized narcotics were taken to Homabay Police Station for safe custody as exhibits, while the relentless hunt for the elusive traffickers continues.

This comes only a week after 438Kgs of bhang valued at Ksh Sh13,140,000, was incinerated at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital grounds in Kisumu County. 

The operation was given a greenlight by a order from Kisumu Law Courts which mandated the destruction of the 10 Sack of the illegal drugs that had been recovered before. 

Cases of bhang trafficking have been rampant across the country while the DCI has been on the radar to seize contraband drugs from reaching the market especially the youth population. 

Security administrators have called for concerted efforts by all departments to create awareness among wananchi in order to combat the vice.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ has declared its commitment to fight the illegal activity amd has upped collaborating with other stakeholders in the fight against the sale, distribution and consumption of narcotic drugs.
