Eric Maigo: Teenage suspect in his murder arrested

The main suspect in the murder of Eric Maigo has been arrested.

The 36-year-old Maigo was the acting finance director at the Nairobi Hospital.

Reports indicate that he was unmarried. Initial police reports said that he was murdered by a woman, after his body was found with over 20 stab wounds in his Woodley estate, Nairobi house.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect – a teenager was arrested in Kibera slums, Nairobi, last night.

“The suspect, who detectives have established is a juvenile aged 16, was arrested at Olympic village in the sprawling Kibera slums last night, after sleuths received information regarding her whereabouts through the Fichua kwa DCI hotline number,” DCI stated in a statement.

“Immediately after her arrest, the teenager was whisked to DCI headquarters for interrogation before she was booked at Muthaiga police station.”

On September 22, the DCI in a statement said police had identified the suspect in the murder of Maigo.

“Detectives have recovered clothes believed to have been worn by the main suspect during the cold blooded murder of Nairobi Hospital’s Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo. The clothes, a red checkered shirt and a grey pair of animal-print pants were found in a semi-permanent wooden shack in Bombolulu village, deep inside the sprawling Kibira settlement.”

“The suspect, who has since been identified as Ann Adhiambo alias Nut, is currently on the run and is believed to be between 15 to 17 years old. She is said to have sat her KCPE examination at the Dagoretti approved school between 2021 and 2022.”

She was captured scaling perimeter walls in CCTV footage retrieved by crime scene.

Maigo’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood on September 15, bearing 25 stab wounds. The motive of the murder is yet to be established.
