Police in Kisumu are holding three suspects in connection with fuel siphoning along the Kenya Pipeline Corporation (KPC) line in the area.
This follows a successful application by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers handling the case who pleaded with the court to allow them detain the suspects to conclude investigations.
Kisumu Chief Magistrate Dickson Onyango directed the trio Dickson Nyakundi, Vitalis Onyango and Henry Omondi to be remanded at the Central Police Station for six days to allow the police to conclude investigations.
The magistrate further directed the police to allow one of the suspects, Dickson Nyakundi to seek medical attention under the supervision of the Officer Commanding Station (OCS).
The suspects who were arrested on Tuesday are expected to appear in court on 14th September 2023 to take plea.
Police officers busted the fuel siphoning syndicate on Monday after receiving a tip off from members of the public.
It is believed that the suspects had constructed an underground tank and tunnel through which they siphoned fuel from the main KPC line at Lolwe area in Kisumu.
Bodies of two men believed to be part of the racket were on Tuesday and Wednesday removed from the tunnel as KPC engineers sealed off the leakage.
