Two more suspects have been arrested in Narok town, over the recent murder of a 29-year-old surveyor, raising the number of those arrested so far to five.

Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde said the five will help unveil more details about the killing of Lawrence Nkamasiai, who was killed on Thursday January 11, 2024 at K24 estate as he opened the gate to his home.

Following the incident, the Narok residents barricaded the Narok- Bomet highway protesting alleged increase in insecurity in the area, forcing the police to use tear gas to disburse the irate mob.

The residents demanded the security team to carry out in-depth investigations on the killing, and give details on what transpired before the young profession was killed.

Masinde said those arrested were David Mecha, a 24-year-old man who was found with two bags full of assorted clothes in a guest house in Narok town.

Others arrested in connection to the incident are James Busekela, 58, Japheth Tirimba, 24, Robert Kipkoech, 23, and Biden Karanja, 23.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in Narok Chief Magistrate court on miscellaneous application for custodial orders to assist with investigations.

The county commissioner confirmed security had been intensified in Narok town and its environs, with the residents being urged to report any suspicious people to the relevant authorities.

However, Masinde told off those spreading fake news over the social media about general insecurity in the town, instead asking any aggrieved members of the public to report specific cases to the police for appropriate action.

“Some people have a tendency of writing fake things on social media so as to cause unnecessary tension in the area. We are asking such persons to report particular criminal activities to the police, failure to which, we will follow up and arrest all those found spreading fake news,” he warned.
