By Joshua Cheloti The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has asked its members to boycott some of the media outlets it says have been engaging in false and biased reporting against its presidential candidate William Ruto. UDA National Elections Board, in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, said the news outlets have in the past few weeks been publishing news articles aimed at sabotaging the integrity and dignity of the UDA party and DP Ruto. The articles, NEB chairperson Eng. Anthony Maina says have been raising accusations of witchcraft, domestic violence, and association with ungodly organizations such as Freemasons as well as financial misappropriation. William Ruto in a perpetual and affect the mental health of his family and close associates,” says Maina in the statement. Media outlets that UDA wants its members to boycott are 411 news flash message services which it wants members, affiliates, and delegates to unsubscribe from, The Nairobian, Citizen Weekly, and The Standard. The party cited the latest article on the Nairobian claiming UDA was in a financial crisis due to a lack of funds ahead of the nominations scheduled for April 14, 2022, as one of the false and unbiased news. It comes just days after Citizen Weekly run an article that purported to give details of how the DP plotted to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta. “While we do not dispute the main allegations made in The Nairobian and The Weekly Citizen, we disagree with this roque journalism aimed at inciting fear and chaos in our membership,” the UDA National Elections Board chair said. The party is now asking members and supporters to not only unsubscribe and unfollow the listed media outlets but also stop sharing or commending about UDA party and DP Ruto on foreign news sites and circulated on social media including The Red Paper from Uganda.
