The United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) working towards implementing the Two-thirds Gender rule in its grassroots elections, which are scheduled for December 9th this year.

During an event at Nyamira Primary School Grounds in Nyamira South Sub-county over the weekend, the party National Treasurer, Kitutu Chache North Member of Parliament (MP), Japheth Nyakundi, encouraged women to vie for the party's various posts during the elections.

MP Nyakundi emphasized that the UDA is committed to ensuring that the elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

“We will ensure that women secure from one-third to half of the seats,” he said.

Nyakundi also extended an olive branch to the Jubilee Party members, who were willing to join UDA in what could lead to new alignments.

West Mugirango Constituency MP, Steve Mogaka, who was received into UDA from the Jubilee Party expressed his support for the ruling party.

Mogaka called for cooperation from all the leaders despite their political affiliations in a bid to ensure inclusivity and economic growth in all regions of the country.
