Bumula Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Wamboka has asked President William Ruto to help fix the ailing sugar sector once and for all during his planned tour to Western Kenya this weekend.

Speaking to the press, Wamboka said that he fully supports the President’s visit to the region but insisted he should give a solution to the ailing sugar sector and announce when his administration will complete the stalled projects that were abandoned by the previous government.

“We are aware that the Head of State will tour the region this week, we shall welcome him very well but what we want from him is to give us a new sugar mill as he promised Nzoia Sugar Company,” he said.

Wamboka added, “A father who goes to hunt would quench the thirst of the children depending on what he comes back home with.”

The DAP-K MP also called on the President to remove the investors who were handed Mumias Sugar Company to revive it arguing that they have turned the place into a battle ground.

“The investors who were given Mumias Sugar Company have failed, the President should act very fast and remove them,” he said.

President Ruto is scheduled to tour Bungoma on August 27 and 28th. He will attend interdenominational prayers at Kiwanja Ndege and officially open the new County Assembly building among other projects.

“I’m just reminding the President that we are eagerly waiting for him to come because we have many problems,” Wamboka noted.

He also asked the President to tell the region’s leaders the plans his administration has to complete stalled projects that were shelved citing Koica water project and Musikoma- Mungatsi road among others.

Wamboka also called on the President to pump in funds to Nzoia Sugar Company to facilitate the payment of farmers that have stayed for a long time.

“The company has huge pending bills for farmers. It will be good if the President can inject money to pay them,” he said.

He noted that the last money the company received was from former President Uhuru Kenyatta towards the end of his tenure.

“Please Mr. Ruto we watched, listened and followed you during your tour of Central Kenya region. Just mirror what you did and copy paste to the Western region,” he noted.
