William Oduol: My evidence against Orengo is not hot air
By Peter Ochieng
Embattled Siaya Deputy Governor (DG) William Oduol, has broken his silence at least publicly, over his 'impending impeachment.'
On Monday, 38 out of 42 Siaya Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) approved an impeachment motion against Oduol.
The Assembly under Speaker George Okode then formed a 14-man committee, aimed at giving Oduol an opportunity to be heard, besides getting views from the public, before reporting back to the Assembly next month.
He will become the first Deputy Governor to be impeached, if the motion goes through.
Oduol has been at loggerheads with his boss, governor James Orengo over claims of financial misappropriation.
He says the evidence he has against his boss and the entire Siaya County executive is by no means hot air.
"I am a thoroughbred professional, an accountant of repute and the evidence I presented is cogent, it is not hot air. Now that I, managed to exhaust the internal mechanism, I handed over the evidence to EACC and I am certain that I'm going to be vindicated very soon," the DG said on Spice FM, on Tuesday.
He said he will soon have a field day, when 'people start getting arrested' in Siaya County.
"I am not a visitor in Jerusalem and I want to look at the MCAs in the eyes when we eventually have people arrested by EACC or DCI. How are they going to walk in the streets of Siaya County?"
Orengo and Oduol were elected on the ODM party ticket.
The DG has already been suspended by Siaya County ODM delegates, over differences with his boss.
Oduol has maintained that he will not resign, since he was not appointed by anyone.
He says just like Orengo, he was elected by the people of Siaya County.
