Woman Commits Suicide over Domestic Squabble

A middle aged woman in Kitengela has committed suicide over what is alleged as a domestic squabble.

According to neighbors at the residential apartment, the woman who has been having continuous fights with her husband kept quarreling and beating up her children in the evening.

"The expectant woman was beating her children ruthlessly before the plot caretaker intervened and stopped her. She then proceeded inside the house and asked the children to stay in the sitting room, while she went to the bedroom," said Faith Mureithi, one of the neighbors.

Before long, mechanics who work in the neighborhood spotted her body hanging from her second-floor apartment's balcony and alerted the caretaker.

"There have been a lot of suicide and murder cases in Kitengela of late. We have a big challenge here on mental health matters. Depression is real as only a day ago, another woman killed her child. We request the government to quickly intervene because if this continues, we will have no future generations,” said Mureithi, a neighbor.

Confirming the incident, Isinya police boss Patrick Manyasi said that couples should seek help whenever they have domestic issues rather than killing themselves and their children.

The body was moved to Kitengela Sub County Hospital morgue.
