A woman who was arrested a week ago in connection to the gruesome murder of Eric Maigo has been set free.
The woman was arrested few days after Maigo's body, then acting finance director at Nairobi Hospital was recovered at his Woodley estate, Nairobi home with over 10 stab wounds.
He died in the night of September 15, 2023.
His assailant believed to be a lady reportedly escaped through the perimeter wall.
On Monday, a Nairobi court released a suspect linked with the murder, after the prosecution conceded to lack of sufficient evidence to charge or even continue detaining her.
"After investigations, we have forwarded the file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and there was no sufficient evidence to charge the respondent herein," the court heard.
The woman was set free without any condition, after the miscellaneous file was closed.
Last week, detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made a major step towards bringing to book the main suspect in the murder of Maigo.
The DCI in a statement on Friday said they have the name and possible age of the main suspect.
DCI said the suspect is one Ann Adhiambo alias Nut, who is interestingly aged between 15 and 17.
"The suspect who has since been identified as Ann Adhiambo alias Nut, is currently on the run and is believed to be between 15 to 17 years old. She is said to have sat her KCPE examination at the Dagoretti approved school between 2021 and 2022," said the agency.
"Detectives have recovered clothes believed to have been worn by the main suspect during the cold blooded murder of Nairobi Hospital’s Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo, last Friday on September 15, 2023. The clothes a red checkered shirt and a grey pair of animal-print pants were found in a semi-permarnent wooden shack in Bombolulu village, deep inside the sprawling Kibira settlement."
