Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has expressed personal gratitude over what he termed as outstanding work performance that saw him ranked the best in the latest survey by a pollster.

During a celebration attended by workers and Kitale residents on Wednesday, Governor Natembeya attributed the success to the exceptional personnel in his county and the spirit of teamwork.

Addressing the jubilant workers and members of the public, the county Boss challenged all the employees, from junior staff to senior county officials, to strive at maintaining the top position.

Governor Natembeya stated, "we should maintain position one even as we strive to aim even higher.”

“This can only be achieved if we continue working together. No staff should undermine our efforts if we wish to sustain this position," he added with a smile.

On Tuesday, Governor Natembeya and his Homa Bay counterpart, Gladys Wanga, were recognized as the best-performing governors in the country according to a survey conducted by Infotrak Company.

The duo secured the top position among 25 leading governors, with each scoring an average of 70 percent.

In the rankings, West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin came in third with 67 percent, while Simba Arati (Kisii), Irungu Kang'ata (Murang'a), Jeremiah Lomurkai (Turkana), and Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni) tied in the fourth position with 64 percent.

Speaking to the media, Governor Natembeya said work had just begun and urged his staff to diligently discharge their duties for improved service delivery aimed at spurring economic growth and development in the region.

Meanwhile a section of residents of Kisumu County have denounced recent Infotrak rating that placed Kisumu County governor professor Anyang’ Nyong’o performance at number 13.

The Infotrak rated Governor Nyong’o at number 13 out of the 47 counties with a mean score of 61% on development achievement in his tenure so far.

Kevin Omondi and Rose Aimo who are traders at Manyatta market decried the rating terming it too poor.

“My name is Kevin Omondi and I am a Manyatta resident and based on what Professor Nyong’o has done in Kisumu County he doesn’t deserve to be rated number 13 but he deserves better because he has done a lot to spruce up the business environment in Kisumu starting with the construction of Uhuru market,” said a resident.

“My name is Rose Auma and am a trader at Manyatta market selling Omena but the governors’ score card that has placed Nyong’o at number 13 is wrong because Nyong’o has done a lot in Kisumu till Kisumu is now popularly referred to as ‘Europe’ hence Nyong’o should have been rated at between position 1 to 3,” observed another resident.
