As the Country celebrates ten years of devolution, youth drawn from the Western region are now calling on President William Ruto to consider devolving the youth function.
Addressing the press in Bungoma Town, Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s political advisor Luke Opwora, says that devolution has in the last ten years given the youth little to smile about.
Opwora called on President William Ruto to devolve the youth function to the counties noting that much of the resources to support young people remain with the National Government.
“If the youth function is devolved, then the youth will feel the impact of devolution and the benefits of hustler government,” Opwora said.
Bungoma County Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF) official Maureen Chebet, said that if the youth function is devolved it will give the young people an opportunity to be part of the decision-making process.
“We appreciate what the County Executive Committee Member for Sports, Gender and Culture is doing. She is trying to involve us as youths but the resources at the County aren’t enough to support,” Chebet added.
