The Government has released Ksh 210M to the National Youth Fund, to support entrepreneurship Programs.
While handing over the Cheque to the beneficiaries, Sports, culture and Youth Affairs CS Kipchumba Murkomen emphasized the government's commitment to supporting Youth Employment in the country.
"The Government remains dedicated to implementing robust measures that enhance youth employability, particularly through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
This agenda is anchored on expanding opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), catalysing employment and livelihood avenues for vulnerable groups." The CS Said.
"Today, I had the honour of awarding Ksh 210 million in cheques to Youth Fund beneficiaries, reinforcing our commitment to support youth entrepreneurship."He added.
The CS Noted that the government has signed agreements with foreign labor markets to support Cross-labor initiatives abroad in order to scale down the unemployed rate.
Murkomen further noted that this has been enhanced by Paying air Tickets to Kenya's labor force seeking employment overseas.
"To address youth unemployment, we have secured agreements with various countries to create job opportunities for Kenyan youth abroad.
In alignment with the President's vision on labour migration, our Ministry is actively supporting beneficiaries by covering air tickets, helping young Kenyans access global employment and career development opportunities."He said.
The Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) has currently disbursed Ksh 15.2 billion, benefiting over 2 million youth across the country to start up youth enterprises.
The CS presented a Howo N Tipper Truck valued at Ksh 6.89 million to Geoffrey Macharia, a 32-year-old entrepreneur from Molo Constituency, Nakuru County.
"Geoffrey’s thriving business in the sale and transport of building materials is a testament to how the YEDF is transforming lives, enabling youth to acquire assets that significantly enhance their business operations." Murkomen said.
