A total of 10,000 people have been registered under the on-going Inua Jamii registration programme in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The County Director of Children Services Mr. Elias Kurgat said the county was expecting to register 16,000 people before the end of exercise on Friday this week.
Kurgat therefore called on residents yet to register to take advantage of the remaining time and report to the nearest chief’s office where they will be registered.
The Director said those to be registered are the elderly aged 70 years and above who are not receiving any pension from the government, persons with disability and especially those with severe disability and orphans who have lost one or both parents.
Kurgat said all one needed is a national Identification Card of the beneficiary and the caregiver saying they are not required to pay anything for the exercise, and warned that anyone caught demanding for a bribe to register beneficiaries will face the full force of the law.
