Work on Affordable Housing Programme commences in Vihiga

Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has said that the County Government has entered into a partnership agreement with the National Housing Corporation (NHC) for the implementation of an affordable housing project.

Ottichilo said the national government has donated two acres of land in Mungoma ward in Vihiga Sub County to the county government for the construction of the housing units.

The County Boss, who was addressing the NHC team led by Quantity Surveyor (QS) Robert Ambuku after they paid him a courtesy call stated that the area has been having residential blocks for civil servants which have been brought down to pave way for construction of modern standardized units.

Ottichilo said the construction of 100 units in the first phase has commenced, and expressed his gratitude to the national government for collaborating with the county to actualize a project that would provide job opportunities and housing solutions to the people.

Ambuku said the Corporation would offer financial and technical assistance to the county so as to ensure success of the programme. He said that his team had visited the site and was satisfied with the prevailing environmental and geographical conditions.
