A total of 16 students from Elgeyo Marakwet County who are set to join secondary schools will benefit from a four-year scholarship from the KCB Bank Foundation.

The KCB Iten Branch Manager Rose Orgut called on the beneficiaries to work hard in school saying the foundation would continue to support them if they make it to the university.

The County Education Officer James Ongati thanked KCB and other organisations that have come to aid bright and needy students adding that the government through the Elimu scholarship has also supported 120 students.

He said his Department will work with the National Government Administrative Officers to ensure that all students who sat their KCPE transition to secondary school achieve 100% transition.

The County Executive Committee Member for Education Edwin Kibor said the County had set aside sh.94 million for bursaries which is not enough for the many students requiring assistance due to the prevailing harsh economic conditions.
