Azimio settles on Kalonzo to lead talks with Kenya Kwanza

By Peter Ochieng

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya on Monday settled on a five-man team to engage in talks with President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza faction.

The Raila Odinga led coalition settled on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, as leader of its team.

Others are: Minority leader James Opiyo Wandayi, DAP Kenya party leader Eugene Ludovic Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni and Malindi Member of Parliament (MP) Amina Mnyanzi.

Azimio in a statement on Monday said no party has the right to decide for the other what to be discussed or not.

"Our position remains that no party to these negotiations can claim a right to determine for the other what to raise and what not to raise."

The Kenya Kwanza team is also expected to unveil its team.

The talks will be facilitated by former Nigeria President Olusegon Ombasanjo.

Hours to unveiling of the Azimio team, Kileleshwa Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai accused Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, of what he termed as pushing to have embattled Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, be part of the Azimio team.

Alai claimed Kioni and Karua lack 'political muscles' adding that Wamalwa and Kalonzo have a major say in Azimio, owing to the number of votes they generated for Azimio, during the August, 2022 polls.
