Bomet County Public Service Board has cautioned residents to be wary of fraudsters purporting to be in a position to secure the recently advertised vacancies in exchange for bribes.

The board asked members of the public against falling prey to fraudsters who ask for bribes to influence the outcome of the recruitment process.

The Board chairman Eng. Alexander Ngeno confirmed that many shortlisted candidates for various positions were conned by tricksters who pretend to be members of the board.

“It is with keen concern that we have noted people purporting to be in positions to give out jobs in Bomet County have been conning unsuspicious Kenyans in the name of the County Public Service Board,” noted Ngeno.

“Bomet County Public Service Board has received numerous calls from members of the public who have received calls from the scammers and fraudsters who have tried to deceive them that they are in positions to influence their employment,” explained Eng. Ngeno.

The Chairman further revealed that the con stars have advanced in their games to an extent of informing the public that the ongoing interviews were just a formality to hoodwink the public.

He further reiterated that the board offered equal opportunity to all applicants seeking employment and does not solicit for bribes to recruit its staff through agencies or agents.

In his report, the chairman revealed the phone numbers and names of suspected fraudsters and warned members of the public not to fall into their trap as police probed the matter with a view to nail the conmen.

“The board has reported the matter and will continue to work with relevant government agencies to carry out investigations and apprehend these culprits,” said Ngeno.
