The Dr. Laboso Mother and Child Wellness centre in Bomet is set to be one of the 25 medical centres of excellence.

This follows recommendations from a team of health advisors who paid a courtesy call to Bomet Governor Prof Hillary Barchok Thursday.

The Sh. 300 million project situated at Youth Farmers trading centre in Bomet East in set for commissioning any time soon as all construction works were complete.

If considered, the medical facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and will be a centre for extensive medical training.

The facility will also be able to handle complex medical situations comparable to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Eldoret or Kenyatta National Hospital.

Prof Barchok revealed that, during a recent visit to India, he had talks that would lead to the centre signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Apollo Hospital, India to partner and share human resources and medical technology to the benefit of the people of Bomet and the country at large.

The Governor added that significant steps in technological aspect have been taken due to introduction of telemedicine in Longisa County Referral hospital.

Barchok said there were further engagement with the office of the president geared towards extension of medical infrastructure in the County.
