Boda boda rider Die in road accident

A boda boda rider perished on the spot and two others sustained serious injuries after a motorcycle he was riding collided head-on with a vehicle along Wote- Machakos road in Makueni Sub-county.

The noon accident occurred in the Kithamba area when the boda boda rider riding a motorcycle registration KMGJ 116L Skygo went to a petrol station and, when riding back to the road rammed into a vehicle registration KCQ 426V Probox belonging to Michael Sila Muange who was driving to the opposite direction.

 "The boda boda rider (name withheld) was carrying one passenger and 3 sacks of tobacco and on reaching the scene of the accident, he decided to divert into the petrol station on his right, in the process he veered on the road ramming on an oncoming vehicle from Machakos where he died on the spot," said Makueni Sub County Police Commander Winnie Siele who confirmed the accident to KNA on Thursday.

 "Charles Mutusyi who was a passenger in the motorcycle, sustained a left leg fracture while Lucy Kali who was in the motor vehicle, complained of headache," noted Siele.

While calling upon motorists to observe traffic rules to avoid causing accidents during this festive period, she disclosed that the body of the deceased was taken to Makueni County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy adding that the wreckage of the motorcycle and vehicle was towed to Makueni Police Station for inspection.
