Community Pleads for Help in the Wake of Stormy Rain

Kolunga and Boya primary schools in Kisumu County have had their classrooms destroyed following a strong wind in the area on Thursday.
The wind swept the roof of the classrooms and other nearby homesteads where it is reported personal belongings in houses were also carried off by the wind.
At Mzee Owuoth, Achila and at Otiende Gundi it carried off the kitchen roof top.
The chairman of Kolunga primary school committee Mr. Moses Wara appealed for support from members of the community to help construct the roof of the school’s classrooms.
“The parents and Kolunga community at large are pleading for help from community members including well-wishers to help us reconstruct the roof of the classrooms so that when the children open school they will be able to resume learning,” pleaded the school’s committee chairman Moses Wara.
The chairman however assured that they will do everything possible to ensure that all those who suffered losses in Awasi Onjiko ward due to the storm rain are compensated.
He however appealed to the locals to always be alert whenever such rains occur and ensure no life is lost in such instances.
Wara further urged the locals to try and take the necessary precaution that would ensure their safety in the event of such rain storms and pledged to repair the local roads that have been damaged by the rains.
“To our kins of Kaabong’o and Kakona sub locations who have been affected by this storm and torrential rains, we pledge to stand with you and support you and assure you that the destruction of classrooms are put back in order before the schools reopen and we shall liase with the county government in doing so and to alleviate the situation even as we call on all stakeholders to come on board and assist us achieve this,” pleaded Wara
