Tension in Kisumu over Juakali shooting
Tension is up in sections of Kisumu, as residents protest over the alleged shooting of between three to five people.
They are believed to be matatu operators, who were alleged shot as they protested a crack down on matatus in the City.
Others shot were caught in between.
They were reportedly shot at Kamas area, Juakali, prompting traders, juakali artisans and other residents to protest.
No vehicles, tuk tuk and even motor bikes can currently access the routes within Kisumu's Juakali area.
Police were at hand to implement an order barring public service vehicles from accessing the Kisumu Central Business District (CBD), when 'all hell broke loose.'
For some months now, matatus from residential areas such as Manyatta and Migosi were making u-turns at the Patel area, following an order by the Kisumu City management.
However, in recent days, matatus had started making their way back to within the CBD.
