UDA wave scatter ODM dominance in Nyanza

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has reaped big after key Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) luminaries in Kisumu decamped from the party and joined UDA.

The move has emboldened UDA party’s move to overturn the Nyanza ODM wave and gain considerable ground and support in Nyanza.

The ODM rebels were welcomed to UDA party by Nyanza UDA die hard George Ayugi who has also expressed his desire to contest for the Kisumu East UDA chairmanship position. He noted that the ODM defectors held key positions in the ODM party in the wards in Kisumu East and that UDA had registered a bumper harvest even as he announced his determination to ensuring that UDA dominates Kisumu County.

This happened in the wake of the recent decamping of Kisumu ODM chairman prof Ayiecho Olweny from ODM to UDA.

“I can only clinch the Kisumu County UDA chairmanship position if you people of Kisumu join UDA en masse because its only bonafide UDA members who will vote on the 9th of December hence you must have a UDA membership card to vote,” pointed Ayugi. 

Former Kisumu East UDA secretary general Julius Ochieng reiterated that Kenya is a democratic state hence the decamping of supporters from ODM to UDA should not be a matter of much bickering.

“When a son becomes of age he moves away from his father’s homestead and establishes his own home besides Kenya is a multi-party state and multiparty in Kenya was birthed by the Luo community yet ironically it’s the Luos who have remained rooted to single party since independence” reckoned Ochieng’

Former ODM Kisumu County organizing secretary Emmanuel Oyako too encouraged those who have decamped from ODM to UDA to just be peaceful even as he issued a terse warning to anyone planning to victimized those who have decamped to UDA from ODM of dire consequences.

“For the whole world to see and know my stand in broad daylight because I am not going to operate and hide in darkness but work in broad daylight hence I declare in broad daylight that Ayieko has joined UDA and decamped from ODM because Luos were very much part of the Uhuru wave hence the Ruto wave won’t leave us behind,” declared Oyuko
