Police investigating woman believed to have killed her newborn

Police in Narok are investigating a 22-year-old woman who is believed to have killed her newborn child at Naroosura area in Narok South Sub County.

Jackline Parmuat is said to have given birth to a bouncing baby but when her mother visited her, a week after she had given birth, she did not find the new born baby.

Instead, Parmuat said she had taken the baby to her father whom she alleged lives at Siyiabei area, about 80 kilometers from where she lived.

The mother suspected that her daughter was hiding something from her and decided to report the matter to the police, who have since launched investigations on the same.

Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro said the police suspect that the young mother could have killed her child as she gave contradicting reports about the whereabouts of the baby.

“The girl has failed to explain how and when she took the child to her father that she alleges lives in Siyiabei area in Narok East Sub County. We suspect that she could have murdered the infant,” reiterated the police boss.

He said if found guilty, she could be charged with murder and act as an example to other mothers with the ill intention of killing their own children.
