Dani Carvajal Commits to Real Madrid
By Robert Mutasi
Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has once again pledged his future with the Spanish giants as he hinted at remaining for life with the Blancos.
In a recent interview with Marca, the right back said due to respect for what Real Madrid as an institution is, he does not want to wear another European club jersey.
"I'd never play for any other club in Europe out of respect for Real Madrid," Carvajal concluded, hence removing the speculations that linked him to some other club.
This Spanish international has spent the better part of his professional career at the Santiago Bernabéu, where he grew into a key figure during one of the most successful eras in the club's history. He is currently 32 years old.
Carvajal's contract with Los Blancos expires in 2025, but the defender did raise a seeming impression that he wants to stay longer.
"If all parties agree, I want to renew my contract at Real Madrid, which is what I have always wanted and what I now want," Carvajal said during the interview.
He had joined at 10 and is one of the few players in this professional era of football who can boast of being a "one-club man," as he joined Real Madrid's youth academy.
Except for a season on loan with German club Bayer Leverkusen in 2012-2013, Carvajal has spent his entire senior career with Real Madrid, acquiring more than 350 club appearances.
During his time at Real, he has accrued five Champions League titles and three Spanish La Liga titles, not mentioning a sea of other domestic and international accolades.
He has been tipped to be among the best right-backs in Europe as he has been marked for tenaciousness at the back, great pace, and the ability to develop attacks.
Now, with Carlo Ancelotti at the wheel, Real Madrid is to go forward into the future while Carvajal remains relevant in the plans of Los Blancos.
Playing time and experience turned him into something rather valuable for a team that lived an important generational change during the last two years.
Because, if indeed a new contract is in the offing, he surely now looks more attached than ever at Real Madrid, while in this team his legacy keeps growing.
Applying the assumption that he is going to don this famous white shirt once again, it should be comforting for the Los Blancos faithful, as then the team will look for more glory both at home and on the continent.
