Football fans in Kenya are now in high spirits following the release of the final Harambee Stars squad by the Head Coach, Engin Firat, on Thursday ahead of the forthcoming AFCON 2025 Qualifiers.

The team has a combination of a mix of experienced players and raw talents, hence ushering in optimism about Kenya's qualification into the continental tournament.

Coach Firat, being at the helm of the national team, expressed this selection as an important ingredient in shaping Kenya's journey into the tournament of star teams that AFCON presents.

With his approach to the game and critical analysis of players, Firat is confident in the team he has assembled.

"Each player in this squad has earned their place through hard work and dedication. Our goal is to qualify and represent Kenya on one of Africa's biggest stages," he declared during the press conference.

In goal, Firat has opted for Byrne Odhiambo, Faruk Shikhalo, and Ian Otieno, each famed for their tenacity and ability to stop shots.

These three have the onus of offering a solid last line of defense as the team gears up to play some of Africa's hard nuts in the qualifiers.

The backline is well-rounded, with familiar names such as Joseph Okumu and Johnstone Omurwa anchoring the backline.

Joining them are Daniel Anyembe, Amos Wanjala, Amos Nondi, Charles Momanyi, Eric Ouma, and Abud Omar.

This blend of experience and youthful energy is bound to solidify Kenya's defense, bringing stability and support that has been much needed in their battle against the most fearsome attacking lines.

Kenya's midfield will be spearheaded by Anthony Akumu, Marvin Nabwire, and Duke Abuya, who bring both creativity and defensive cover to the team. Other midfielders include Timothy Ouma, Richard Odada, Austine Odhiambo, Ronney Onyango, Alfred Scriven, Leshan Mootian, and Adam Wilson.

This concoction of talent is expected to bring flexibility in transition-play from swift counter-attacks down to regulating the tempo.

Coach Firat believes this set of midfielders has the right combination of skills to take over at critical moments.

Leading the attack are Kenya's celebrated forwards Michael Olunga, Jonah Ayunga, and John Avire. Olunga, talisman and skipper for Kenya, will be leaned on for leadership and goal-scoring prowess.
