The date has been set for Willis Ayieko’s burial.
The former Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager was brutally murdered and his body dumped at a stream in Yala, Siaya County last month.
He will be buried on Saturday, November 09, 2024, in Central Alego, Siaya County.
According to his family, a funeral service will be held on Thursday at All Saints’ Cathedral in Nairobi, before the body is moved to his home.
The funeral program was released a few hours after another suspect linked to his murder was arrested.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspect, a motorcycle rider, was rounded up in Kisumu.
“The suspect, Fredrick Otieno Omondi, was apprehended in Kisumu and is believed to have played a significant role in the events preceding this tragic incident,” stated the investigations agency.
“Omondi is alleged to have provided transport for Victor Ouma, also known as Sisco, to the location where Onyango was abducted. Victor Ouma Okoth is currently in police custody and has been linked to the crime, alongside his deceased brother, Robert Wakolo Okoth, as well as other yet-to-be-identified individuals.”
Last week, Police in Kisumu shot and killed George Okoth Oduor, another prime suspect in the murder of Ayieko. Oduor was tracked to a guesthouse near Kisumu National Polytechnic, where he was reportedly armed and ready to confront officers.
“When officers encountered him, he was armed and ready to engage. The officers neutralized the threat, recovering a pistol loaded with live rounds and several spent cartridges,” said Nyanza Regional Police Commander Patrick Tito.
Oduor become the second suspect connected to the murder of Willis to die, after a fierce exchange of fire with police officers.
Earlier, a female suspect died while receiving treatment at Hospital in Siaya County, after encountering police along the busy Luanda – Siaya highway. Ayieko’s body was discovered on October 23, about a week after his family reported that he was missing.
