DP Gachagua convenes meeting with members of the Diplomatic corps

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has chaired a meeting with members of the Diplomatic corps at his official residence in Karen on Tuesday morning.
The meeting engaged the new Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Consuls-General and Deputy Heads of Mission where discussions were centered around emphasis on Economic Diplomacy for better results.
This comes as the new diplomatic corps are set to begin their new assignment after their formal appointment by President William Ruto on November this year.
The president appointed 29 foreign representatives while retaining about 20 who served under former president Uhuru Kenyataa.
DP Gachagua acknowledged the role of the Diplomatic corps in advancing Kenya's foreign agenda and representing Kenya's foreign policies and interests to other nations bit in Trade and investment or social - cultural dynamics.
"Our Diplomatic Missions promote, protect and project the image of Kenya abroad. They have a direct contribution to optimal performance of our trade, remittance from Kenyans abroad, foreign direct investment, strategic partnership, among others." DP Gachagua said.
Gachagua added that the Kenya Kwanza Administration recognises the critical role played by the envoys and we wants to reap maximum benefit from the foreign Missions as one of the avenues of rebuilding a strong and stable economy.
" Indeed, their optimal performance will propel our country's diplomatic profile as a strategic investment destination on the global stage." Gachagua added.
Also present in the meeting were Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Dr Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives Simon Chelugui, Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau, Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr. Korir Sing'Oei, and the Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu who shared their insights and reflections with the new envoys.
