Eliud Kipchoge Wins Berlin Marathon

Eliud Kipchoge has successfully defended his Berlin Marathon title by clocking 2:02:42. at Berlin on Sunday morning.
Kipchoge who is the current holder of the world record title at 2:01:09 finished ahead of Vincent Kipkemboi of Kenya who clocked 2:03:13.
Ethiopia's Tadese Takele came in third clocking 2:03:24. With Takele and Kipkemboi also making their debuts in the Berlin Marathon.
Kipchoge has now won the Berlin Marathon a record five times( 2015, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2023) more than any other athlete.
Ahead of the race, Kipchoge stated that his main goal is to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals and that he believes running in Berlin is the best way to prepare for this.
Kipchoge has now won his 16th career Marathon which keeps his name hanging in the honor if the Greatest Marathoner of all time only losing three times out of the 19 marathons he has competed in.
"Berlin, for me, is like home. Looking at the Olympic Games in Paris next year, I considered which races would be the best preparation for me, and Berlin was the best option," Kipchoge said in a statement before the race.
Many took to social media to congratulate Kipchoge for his remarkable achievement with Kenya's President William Ruto terming his as a limitless star." The Fifth masterful and historic performance in Berlin. Congratulations our limitless star, Eliud Kipchoge for your golden staging in the BMW Berlin-Marathon 2023." Ruto statement in a post on his X account.
ODM leader Raila Odinga took to congratulate Kipchoge for his victory "Once again, Eliud Kipchoge asserts his command and dominance, showcasing his exceptional skill and defending his title by securing victory in the Berlin Marathon for an unparalleled 5th time. Bravo! No Human Is Limited." Odinga Said in a statement on Facebook.
Today's race saw 14 other Kenyans competing for the title alongside Kipchoge with names like Amos Kipruto, Jonathan Maiyo, Eliud Kiptanui, Ronald Korir, Abel Kipchumba and Philemon Kiplimo.
Others include; Enock Onchari, Mark Korir, Josphat Boit, Denis Chirchir, Justus Kangigo, Dominic Nyairo and Titus Kipkosgei.
