Kathozweni Sub County Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Kasim Boso has said that primary schools at Kithuki/Kitise ward will get first priority whenever food relief is being distributed in the area.
While saying that the vulnerable families will also benefit, Boso disclosed that the resolution was reached in a public participation forum in a bid to enable children to continue learning without any interruptions.
“Parents and teachers in our sub county have agreed that at least a third of relief food be distributed in primary schools. This will ensure the food lasts the children through one term,” said Boso after reading the President’s speech at Kithuki Primary school during Madaraka day celebrations on Thursday.
The administrator also said that his office will liaise with the National Government- Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to ensure that all pupils who applied for bursaries benefit to ensure smooth learning in the area.
In this regard, Boso urged teachers not to send students back home as some drop out of school as a result of lack of school fees and some of them end up in the streets while others engage in criminal activities.
