Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has weighed in on the debate on Deputy President William Ruto’s likely running mate for the August elections, hinting that it could be Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
In a tweet on Tuesday night, Omanga shared a photo of DP Ruto and Governor Waiguru and added a caption indicating that UDA party is set to make history by proving the country’s first female presidential running mate.
"We're breaking the glass ceiling in this election. The first female deputy president loading," Omanga posted.
The debate on who is best suited to be Ruto’s running mate has been on for quite sometime, with some of his allies like Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro and Kandara MP Alice Wahome being named as some of the possible candidates.
While the DP is yet to give any hints or indications on who will be his running mate, a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders have weighed in on the matter, with each faction pulling towards their side.

ANC leaders believe their party boss is best suited to be Ruto’s running mate, with the DP’s allies from Mt Kenya maintain that the position is reserved for the region.
"As far as I am concerned, the presidential candidate will be William Ruto. The running mate will come from the Mountain at the right time," Gachagua stated.
He noted that Mudavadi and Wetangula's roles in the coalition will be discussed and revealed in due course.
"When they came for discussion. We were very forthright with Mudavadi and Wetangula because we are very honest people. They could not be running from Raila Odinga because of conmanship they come to use we cheat them.
"They were told already we have had a discussion, the running mate will go to Mount Kenya, it is good to know, and they came with that knowledge," Gachagua said at a past interview.
