Former governor Kibwana gets teaching role at Daystar University

By Peter Ochieng

Former Makueni governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana is back in class, this time round as a lecturer at Daystar University.

The former county boss in an update said he begins the new journey in January 2025, 25 years after serving as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

“I thank God for the opportunity to return to academia after a hiatus, now serving at the Daystar University Law School as Professor, after a previous 25-year tenure at UoN. Another new beginning. I eagerly anticipate engaging in the Master of Laws Program starting January 2025. Where the youth are, I pray I always be there,” said Kibwana in a post on his social media pages.

Reactions from his followers came in thick and first, most of them congratulating him for the new journey. Here is a sample:

Bernadette Loloju: Congratulations, wishing you all the best as you train our young men to be men of valour.

Cheptinga Kipkurui: Congratulations Prof, we do wish the best in life, you are an excellent achiever, we remember Makueni Care.

Dennis Omanga: What an enticing Biography. A life well lived, the epitome of human accomplishment. The best governor that was.

Japheth Kaloki: When I grow up, I wanna be like this man, I copy a lot from you sir. Your humility, sense of humour, stand for justice, you call a spade a spade! A leader who I can testify stands for integrity. Very simple and compassionate.

Hon Justus Masesi: You made me who I am. You encouraged me to go back to class. You encouraged me always and gave me platforms all over the country to sharpen my courage and you called that an internship. Thank you so much and may the Almighty Lord give you a long life.

Ngei Mutwota: Congratulations Prof. Just wish there could be an amendment of sorts to allow governors who served full terms to contest...we would elect you. You really made a lasting impact on Makueni.

Touted as one of the most successful governors in the Country since the advent of devolution in 2013, Kibwana served as the first Makueni governor for terms, until 2022. He was succeeded by former Senator, Mutula Kilonzo Junior.
