Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pleaded with the Youths to cease the ongoing Anti-government protests and allow the government more time to effect more reforms as per their wishes.

While Speaking in Mwea, Kirinyaga County on Saturday during the consecration and installation of PEFA Kirinyaga Regional Bishop Samuel Karimi alongside the ordination of other church ministers, Gachagua told the Youth that the Government led by President William Ruto has listened to their demands and is already on the path for action.

Gachagua warned the youths that their peaceful protests have been hijacked bu criminals who have led to looting of business and destruction of property.

“We respect the Gen Zs and what you are saying, we are listening. you have spoken and we have heard you. Please Gen Zs, my children, my sons and daughters, we have heard you, you have spoken clearly; what you have said needs no full stop or comma. But when you continue, criminals are hijacking the protests,” Gachagua said.

“So we want to ask you, please don't allow your protest to be hijacked by criminals, people with criminal intention, to steal and destroy properties.

I think what you have said is now enough, we don’t need to say anything more. The President has heard, the government and everybody else has heard, now let's wait for action.”The DP added.

Gachagua also warned UDA legislators to heed to the demands of the people and avoid chest thumping.

Furthermore, he said he would continue preaching unity in the Mt. Kenya region since it was the key to economic prosperity.

The DP was accompanied by Hon. Njeri Maina, the Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Hon. John Kaguchia (Mukurwe-ini MP), Senator Karungo Wa Thang'wa (Kiambu), Musician and content creator Kevin Bahati amongst other leaders.
