Arsenal and Bologna have reached an agreement for Riccardo Calafiori

Italian Soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano, a trusted source reveals that after breakthrough in talks through the week, the deal is finally in place between the two clubs for the Italian defender.

Exclusive details reveal that the final fee for the transfer will be €40m fixed plus €5m add-ons and sell-on clause also included for Bologna.

Calafiori agreed already in June on signing five year contract valid until 2029 with salary around €4m net.

Also in the agreement , Bologna owe 50% of the deal to FC Basel, the two clubs will be in touch to discuss details and payment terms for that fee.

Riccardo Calafiori’s future has been among the major talking points this summer, with the highly-rated Bologna defender pursued by several top clubs.

Mikel Arteta is a keen admirer of the 22-year old and wants to make the Bologna star his first marquee summer signing.

Previously wanted by Juventus, the Italian center-back has prioritized a move to England despite being courted by his former manager, Thiago Motta.

Motta established Calafiori as a household name in Serie A last season, turning him from a left-back to a dependable center-half. After swapping Bologna for Juventus at the beginning of the summer, he was eager to take his pupil to Turin. However, the Bianconeri couldn’t meet Bologna’s lofty demands.
