Gor Mahia extended their season Unbeaten run to 15 games with a 2-0 win over FC Talanta in an FKF Kenyan Premier league match played at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega on Sunday.
The victory earns K’Ogalo a 4 point lead at the top of the FKF KPL table with 31 points with KCB and Homeboyz coming 2nd and 3rd with 27 points each separated by goal difference.
K’Ogalo were held to a goalless draw in the first half of the match despite creating a sequence of chances.
However, Gor pressed harder in the second half to finally break the dead lock in the 57th minute through Boniface Omondi.
Ten minutes later, Austin Odhiambo slotted in the second to firm up the lead for the champions who were rarely troubled by their hosts.
Gor benefited greatly from Homeboyz’s shock 2-0 loss to AFC Leopards, a result that ended Abana Abeingo’s five-match winning run, as both teams were separated by just a point heading into Sunday’s matches.
In other matches, Nairobi City Stars beat Ulinzi Stars 2-1 thanks to Denis Owalo and Vincent Owino’s goals which canceled out Boniface Muchiri’s earky strike while Kariobangi Sharks and Bidco United played out a barren draw.
Victory lifts City Stars up to sixth on the table with 24 points while Ulinzi Stars have slipped to 12th with 17.
