Bomet Governor Prof Hillary Barchok has called on area residents who have encroached on road reserves to move out to allow the utilization of the land for the intended purposes.

Barchok said there were a number of roads in the County whose reserved lands had been fenced by unscrupulous individuals with the intent of grabbing the parcels of land.

The County boss was speaking Wednesday in Kipsonoi Ward, Sotik Sub County where he launched the construction of Kapkelei -Sachagwan road.

He called on village elders and Chiefs as well as their Assistants to crack the whip and secure road reserves as well as other public land and property against individuals whose intention was to steal or destroy public property.

He said public lands were intended for utilisation by the public through the establishment of development projects such as transport infrastructure, dams, and educational facilities among other social amenities.

The governor said the role of his government as well as other elected leaders was to provide an opportunity to the citizens to earn a meaningful living.

In that breath, he singled out the importance of Kapkelei Technical Training Institute as an institution whose trainees would help spur the development of the County through innovative technology and the creation of jobs.

Barchok committed to sink a borehole in the institution to solve perennial water shortage and also to install floodlights to enhance business and security in the area.

Kipsonoi, being one of the leading dairy areas in the County, through the Department of Cooperatives, was also considered for installation of coolers to improve earnings for the farmers through minimization of post-harvest losses.

In his company were Members of the County Assembly including area MCA Kipchirchir Rono, Roseline Cheptoo of Rongena Manaret, Charles Langat of Boito Ward and Paul Kirui, Leader of Majority as well as Ndanai Abbosi Ward Representative.
