The County Government of Bomet has signed an MOU with Amref, with a view to promoting primary healthcare.

The two institutions will partner in enhancing vaccination and nutrition programmes across the county.

Addressing the press at his office after signing the MOU, Governor, Prof. Hillary Barchok, expressed his commitment to ensure that the MOU is implemented to the latter, for the greater good of the people of Bomet.

 "We have benefited a lot from our engagement with the Amref and it is our hope that this good working relationship between us, will be strengthened to open-up more opportunities to benefit our people, going forward," said the Governor.

Amref Country Director, Dr Meshack Ndirangu noted that primary health care, is a big stride forward towards the government's policy of providing Universal Health Coverage to all.

He added that Amref will support any effort by the County Government, to ensure that the MOU they signed achieves its targets.

Barchok’s announced that his administration had penned down an extension of an agreement with Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), to extend their partnership for an additional one year.

The Governor revealed that the extension was aimed to facilitate the successful completion of the Bomet Integrated Development Program Phase II, which is designed to enhance the overall quality of life for the residents of Bomet.

“I am delighted to have penned a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dr. Ahmed Idriss, the Secretary General of the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), to extend our partnership for an additional year,” stated Prof. Barchok.

“The program focuses on four thematic areas: food security, water and sanitation, health and nutrition, environment and climate protection.”
