Head of Public Service Cautions procurement over corruption
By Robert Mutasi
Felix Koskei, the President's Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, has issued a stern warning to procurement officers regarding corruption within government departments and ministries.
Speaking at the inaugural Heads of Procurement and Supply Chain Management Forum in Mombasa, Koskei stated that President William Ruto's administration is committed to altering Kenya's trajectory by curbing the corruption epidemic.
Koskei noted that the current anti-corruption initiatives are starting to yield positive results.
"I urge you, the procurement officers, to resist corruption. We are aware of the situation in every institution and we are making steady progress," he declared.
Koskei challenged the officers, from both the public and private sectors, to strive to be part of a group of professionals that uphold the integrity of the procurement profession.
"Join forces with institutions that are reshaping this country's future and work with agencies to combat corruption, thereby improving our nation," he implored during the meeting, which was convened to discuss the impact of procurement reforms on the fight against corruption in Kenya.
"Let's wage war on corruption. Let's be leaders and take a firm stand against this scourge (corruption),"Koskei emphasized.
He said the move will significantly contribute to the country's economic growth, job creation, and make Kenya an attractive destination for investors.
