I am a proud member of UDA, Ruto declares after party nominations

By Peter Ochieng Deputy President (DP) William Ruto has declared that he is a proud member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, after what he termed as successful primaries, conducted in over 30 Counties across the Country on Thursday, April 14, 2022. During a press conference at the party's Hustler Centre headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday night, the DP who doubles up as UDA's party leader said the exercise was conducted smoothly in a majority of areas, acknowledging hiccups in some areas. "Many of the activities have gone on smoothly, sometimes unnoticed in Kilifi, in Mombasa, in Kwale, in Kisii, in various parts of Western Kenya, in Busia, in Kakamega and many other parts of Kenya," he said. We have demonstrated that it is possible for a political party, young as UDA to deliver credible, believable, democratic, free and fair elections." He said he was humbled by the overwhelming number of UDA supporters who turned out to participate in the nominations. "The UDA has demonstrated that it is a national party. I want to thank and congratulate the millions of hustlers including aspirants who came out in large numbers to participate in this nomination exercise," he said. However, nominations were not held in some areas such as Bumula and Mt. Elgon constituencies in Bungoma County, over logistical or violence-related concerns. The UDA primaries will now be carried out on Tuesday next week, where the exercise was not held.
