I didn't know President William Ruto can be this Vicious - Gachagua

Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made his first public appearance since being hospitalised at Karen Hospital on Thursday, October 17.

Speaking to the press on Sunday, October 20, outside Karen Hospital, Gachagua expressed disapproval and shock on his 'treatment' by the state since the aftermath of his impeachment. 

He accused President William Ruto of withdrawing his security detail at a time when he was still recuperating, leaving him with only one officer at his disposal. 

He also decried security having been immediately withdrawn from his Mathira and Karen residences under the Order of President William Ruto. 

Gachagua says that his detail was threatened to withdraw from his security leaving him 'alone' . 

He claimed that he is not feeling safe and that if anything happens to him, the Head of State should be held to account.

"It is unfortunate that when I was here in the hospital, my brother and friend President William Ruto ordered the withdrawal of my security. Officers who were close to me were disarmed and given a warning that they should not be anywhere near me." 

Gachagua was in disbelief on how the President has suddenly turned his back on him. He felt betrayed labeling the president as 'vicious'. 

" I didn't know President Ruto could be that vicious. If anything happens to me, President William Ruto should be held accountable," Gachagua remarked.

Gachagua further accused the President for orchestrating the immediate removal of his staff who were sent on compulsory leave by orders from Government chief of staff Dr Felix Koskei. He said this was making his office dysfunctional. 

Gachagua made the remarks in the company of his wife and two sons, close family relatives, friends and politicians.

This comes as President William Ruto led the country in Marking the Mashujaa day celebrations in Kwale County.

Gachagua’s Impeachment was preceded by the nomination of Interior CS Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President, which was later approved by Parliament. 

Kindiki's nomination was however halted by a court order which suspended his assumption to office.
