During a roundtable meeting with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance-KEPSA, Kimani Ichung'wah, the Majority Leader of the National Assembly, reiterated that partnership between the government and the private sector is an indispensable component in terms of ensuring economic development.

Other attendees at the Naivasha meeting included Speaker Moses Masika Wetang'ula and key stakeholders who deliberated on legislative ways of supporting the private sector for sustainable economic growth.

Ichung'wah addressed the meeting and insisted that strong alliances must be built between the government and private sector players, since such partnerships are actually basic and core to the Kenya legislative agenda.

He said that the government aims to formulate policies that are people-centered and spur economic growth in the long run.

"Building strong partnerships and alliances is core to our legislative work as we work to create policies that are not only people-centered but spur sustainable economic growth," Ichung'wah said.

He congratulated KEPSA upon being a great partner and ensuring that the voices of the enterprises, be it big or small, were heard in legislation.

The Majority Leader added that working with KEPSA is important to the government to get laws that spur economic development and growth, create employment, and support local industries.

He pointed to the difficulties businesses faced in the global competitive market and assured the government that it would continue to provide a conducive environment for businesses to prosper.

"We will work together to formulate laws that enhance economic growth, nurture the creation of jobs, and secure our industries against a very competitive global market," said Ichung'wah.

Ichung'wah reiterated that the policies are key to empowering Kenyans in investing in the country, adding that a prosperous private sector will mean a lot to the economic future of the country.

Through close collaboration with KEPSA, the government aims at ensuring long-term prosperity for all Kenyans.

The same roundtable session that Speaker Wetang'ula attended gave private sector representatives an opportunity to present their issues and suggestions on how the government can effectively support their businesses.

KEPSA brings together a wide range of businesses across different sectors and has been instrumental in facilitating dialogue between the private sector and the government so that policies are in tandem with the needs of the business community while continuing to drive economic growth for the country.
