The inaugural first phase of the Inua Jamii program, which has commenced nationwide, was officially launched on Saturday in Mandera County.
This phase is aimed at assisting senior citizens aged 70 years and above, individuals with disabilities, and orphans whose caregivers are unable to provide full support.
During the program's launch, the County Director of the Directorate of Children Services, Abdikadir Abdinoor, urged all elderly members of the community to present their national identity cards for registration.
He stressed the importance of registering as many elders as possible, regardless of their numbers.
Mr. Abdikadir emphasized that this registration process is entirely free of charge and cautioned that anyone attempting to extort money from the public under the pretense of assisting them in this process would face legal consequences.
The Children's Department will also register 8,216 individuals living with disabilities, orphans, and vulnerable children.
This registration process, spanning for the next 20 days nationwide, will entitle beneficiaries to a monthly stipend of Sh2,000.
