Murang'a Senator Joe Nyutu came out to defend the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, against growing talks over his political future and regional unity.

Senator Joe Nyutu called for the consolidation of Mt. Kenya during the public function but conceded that this appeal should not be misconstrued to mean a call for exclusion.

He emphasized that it is not out of the ordinary for different regions to come into unity for mutual interests, just as international bodies like the African Union, European Union, and the United States engender regional or national unity.

"DP Gachagua is calling for the unity of Mt. Kenya region; it doesn't mean others should not unite. It is not a sin for regions to unite, others do too like the African Union, European Union, and the United States," Nyutu added, insisting that Gachagua deserves respect for his leadership, adding, "People should respect Gachagua because he has been anointed."

During another event, Former Laikipia County Woman Representative Cate Waruguru issued a stern warning against anyone who might be planning to start an impeachment process against Rigathi Gachagua, warning them that such a move would attract severe and instant consequences.

Waruguru, an ardent supporter of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, echoed that Gachagua was winning his position of the Deputy President as a result of hard work by the coalition and would not be removed.

"We struggled in the election to ensure Kenya Kwanza got seats, and we are not going to allow Rigathi Gachagua to be removed from office," she told the press.

She went ahead to threaten that any political actors who would try to destabilize the relationship between President William Ruto and Gachagua would face the law instantly.

"Anyone attempting to impeach him will be sent home early in the morning." Waruguru’s said.

These comments also had overtures of backroom political dealing, whereby she questioned the motives of people who are currently critical of Gachagua's leadership. "We won't let brokers come between Ruto and Gachagua. Where were they when we were campaigning for this government?" she asked.
