President William Ruto reiterated the rule of law as the bedrock of Kenya's democracy during the investiture ceremony for the new Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja.

Present at State House in Nairobi, the Head of State also assured continuous support to security agencies in ensuring safety and stability in the country.

The Head of State made it clear in his address that all Kenyans, whoever they may be, are subject to the rule of law.

"The rule of law is the bedrock of our democracy," Ruto said, adding, "We must obey and submit to it for stability in our country."

The head of state vowed that his regime was set to support the National Police Service in undertaking its mandate of ensuring citizenry safety.

"We will keep supporting our agencies so that this country is safe and secure," he said.

He presided over a ceremony that swore in the new Inspector General, Douglas Kanja.

The President praised Kanja as a seasoned leader with a disciplined background and vast experience in law enforcement.

"In Mr. Kanja, we have a seasoned leader; a disciplined career police officer and a dedicated Kenyan," President Ruto commented. "I have faith in his capability in providing leadership to the National Police Service."

Kanja had served in various capacities within the police service and was credited for his dedication and leadership throughout his service.

The ceremony is an investiture of rank to mark the appointment of senior officers in Kenya's security forces.

The President expressed confidence that he would lead the institution effectively in maintaining law and order.

As he said in a wider message, President Ruto emphasized that every citizen, regardless of position or office, must respect the rule of law.

He added that respect for the rule of law by the citizens means much for the peace and stability of the nation.

"All of us, irrespective of who we are, the offices we occupy, or our status, should obey, respect and submit to the rule of law," Ruto concluded.

Those present during the ceremony included senior government officials, security officers, and dignitaries.
